Lamborghini Miura

2012 promises to be another extraordinary year for the Swiss artist Dante, who has announced the fourth sculpture in his series depicting iconic sports cars: the Lamborghini Miura P400 SV. The Miura was a car ahead of its time, and truly established the name of Lamborghini in the automotive world. Ferruccio Lamborghini was present at the Turin Motor Show in November 1965 when the prototype chassis with a mid-mounted engine was first shown. By March 1966 the car was completely finished in time for the Geneva Motor Show, with a stunning body designed by Bertone. Indeed, this exact vehicle has generously been made available to Dante to use as the basis for his interpretation of the legendary car.

The world famous Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, which is held annually in Monterey California, was the event selected by the award-winning Swiss artist for the American premiere of his iconic sports car sculptures, and the latest addition to the series, a 1:8 scale interpretation of the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO. It was a fitting venue, as this year's main theme was the said vehicle, with twenty-one of the original cars being present during the course of the event. A host of celebrities and sports personalities were present, and took time to visit Dante and to compliment him on the quality of his artwork. Indeed, such was the interest from the major news networks that Dante also appeared on billboards in Times Square, New York.
